How long does it take to replace a garage door?

The short answer: the work at your house takes a few hours. The longer answer is that the calendar between your first call and your new door has three parts, and two of them are waiting.

The estimate: this week

Call or send a note and we set up a visit. Andy comes out, looks at the opening and the house, and brings the samples and catalogues, because colors and textures do not read honestly on a phone screen. You get a firm quote for exactly the door you pick, not a range and not a starting-at. That visit is usually within the week, and it costs you nothing.

The ordering: days to a few weeks

This is the part that decides the timeline, and the part nobody can honestly promise without knowing what you picked. A stock door in a common size and color can be in within days. A specific color, a window layout, an insulation package or a full-view glass door can run a few weeks. We tell you the real lead time when you choose, not after you have committed, and if your old door is failing meanwhile, we will get it safe and working in the meantime.

The install: a few hours

Install day is the quick part. The old door and opener come down, the new one goes up with fresh tracks, springs, rollers and weatherstripping, and most installs wrap in a single morning or afternoon. We pair your remotes and phones, walk you through the safety features, and haul the old door away. One customer told the story better than we can: estimate on Saturday, door installed on Wednesday. That is a completely normal week for a stock door, whether the house is in Wellesley or five minutes from our shop.

What slows it down

Custom doors, special-order glass, and the season (spring and fall are the busy ones) stretch the middle part. What never stretches it with us is the communication: you will know where your door is and when it lands. If you are weighing a new garage door installation, the fastest first step is the estimate, because the clock on the ordering does not start until you have picked.
