Openers fail in two ways. The dramatic one, where the motor stops and the door will not move, and the slow one, where the door gets louder and rougher for a year until somebody finally calls. We handle both, and we will tell you honestly which one you are looking at, because a fifteen-year-old chain drive with a stripped gear is not worth rebuilding.

Remotes that stopped, keypads that lost their programming, a photo-eye sensor knocked out of line: those are fixes, often in minutes, and we treat them that way. A motor that hums and does not lift, a trolley that stripped, a logic board that died in a surge: those can go either way on an older unit, and we will price both directions so you can pick with real numbers in front of you.
Beyond quiet. Phone control means you can check whether the door is closed from anywhere and open it for a delivery without giving out a code. Battery backup means the door still works when the power is out, which matters the night a nor-easter takes the lines down. Common questions
Usually worn rollers, loose hardware or a chain drive that wants adjustment, and sometimes the motor itself. Loud is a symptom, not a diagnosis, so we listen first. About half the loud-door calls we get end in a tune-up or a small part, not a new opener.
If the unit is under about ten years old and the problem is a sensor, a gear or a setting, we fix it. If it is an older chain drive with a dead motor or board, we will show you the repair price against a new LiftMaster and let you decide with both numbers in hand.
The LiftMaster models we install most have battery backup, so the door opens and closes normally through an outage. Every opener also has the red emergency release cord, and we will show you how to use it without damaging the door.
Almost always, yes. The opener mounts to the door and the ceiling, not to any door brand. What matters is that the springs are sized and wound right, because the opener is a guide, not the muscle. We check the balance as part of the job.
