How much does garage door spring repair cost?

You broke a spring, you heard the bang, and now you are searching for a price before you call anybody. Fair. Here is the honest version, without a fake number that would be wrong for your door by the time you read it.

What actually sets the price

The spring system. Torsion springs (the coil on the shaft above the door) and extension springs (along the side tracks) are different parts and different labor. Torsion is more common on heavier doors and generally the more involved job.

The door itself. A light single steel door and a heavy insulated double carriage door do not take the same spring, and the part is sized to the weight. Heavier door, heavier spring.

One spring or two. Double doors usually run a pair, and we replace both when they do. That sounds like an upsell until you understand the reasoning: the two springs have lifted the door the same number of times, so when one breaks, the second is weeks to months behind it. Two springs in one visit beats two emergency calls, every time.

So how do you get a real number?

You call, and we ask the handful of questions that set the price: what the door is made of, roughly how wide, one spring or two if you can see it.
